Scent Training

Introductory Scent must be taken prior to starting Beginner Scent. Introductory Scent is for teams who are brand new to scent, or those who have been briefly introduced. In this 75 minute introductory session, we provide an overview of scent, discuss equipment and odor hygiene, review reward development, and introduce your dog to their first target odor (birch). We'll adjust activities as needed for each dog in the class. Cost of class includes supplies to take home for continued training. Most dogs will take this class one time. Class Prerequisites: Dogs must be over 16 weeks of age. Dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations. Specific vaccinations by age can be found in our Health & Safety Policy. Dogs should be able to eagerly eat treats in a group environment. Dogs should not bark/lunge at people or dogs.

These 50-minute sessions are designed to build upon the foundational skills introduced in Introductory Scent. During these sessions, we will focus on increasing your dog's enthusiasm for finding odors and staying at the source, while also helping you develop key handler skills such as timing and interpreting your dog's body language. Class Prerequisites: Completion of Introductory Scent. Dogs must be over 16 weeks of age. Dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations. Specific vaccinations by age can be found in our Health & Safety Policy. Dogs should be able to eagerly eat treats in a group environment. Dogs should not bark/lunge at people or dogs.

Intermediate & Advanced Skills Scent is for teams who have been introduced to scent work (both intermediate or advanced) and want to build upon their skills. This class accommodates a maximum of 4 dogs per session. This class is for dogs who are already on odor and ready for more! We will have a different focus each week as we present you and your dog with challenges to build reinforcement history, improve communication, navigate distractions, and understand scent puzzles. Register each week or for just the topics you need. Class Prerequisites: Dogs must be over 16 weeks of age. Dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations. Specific vaccinations by age can be found in our Health & Safety Policy. Dogs should be able to eagerly eat treats in a group environment. Dogs should not bark/lunge at people or dogs.
